micrometer diagram

Our micrometers boast crisp, clear, and easy-to-read graduation with accuracy to 0.0001". A hardened and ground spindle along with a carbide anvil ensure durability and accuracy. The micrometer comes in a padded case with an calibration spanner. Micrometers larger than 1" include calibration standards.

Features

Balanced frame and barrel Ensure easy handling and better readability
Ratchet thimble The ratchet thimble allows precise application of pressure on the object being measured. The measuring pressure on the spindle is audible and constant.
Carbide measuring surfaces The spindle and anvil have carbide-tipped, flat measuring surfaces to protect the micrometer from wear.
Accuracy to 0.0001" Our micrometers produce measurements with a precision of 0.0001" using the vernier sleeve.
Accessories When not in use, store your micrometer in the included protective case to protect from collisions and debris. Use the calibration standards and spanner to calibrate the micrometer appropriately. Standards are provided for micrometers larger than 1".
Thermal protection cover When precision is key, you need an cast steel frame that does not expand or retract due to changes in temperature. You'll always get the right measurement, when you want it.
Laser-etched graduations The graduation markings on all scales are etched by lasers, creating ultimate resistance to wear from prolonged use.
Satin chrome finish Our micrometer's barrels are finished with satin chrome plating for a sleek, professional surface. Spindles are stainless steel capped with carbide tips and frame is made of powder coated cast steel.

Wow. After adjusted it reads perfect on my American made standards. Markings are precise and clear, action is smooth, box is good, and it's accurate all for around 20 bucks. I use them often and theyre holding up well. I like the carbide faces, I feel the carbide is a must for long term accuracy and durability. Don't bother buying a more expensive set unless your job requires it, these work just fine.

The materials used in this product and its construction seem to be very good. The parts are well fit and operation is very smooth. The ratchet has very positive clicks. My only complaint is with the lock being on the small side but it functions well.

I am a hobbyist. I wanted a micrometer to measure small diameter wire and a few small screws. After watching a video on YouTube on how to read an old fashion micrometer, I did not want a digital one. I wanted to learn how to use an analog micrometer. This micrometer came with clear instructions. These instructions match what the YouTube video I had seen. I am not sure about the accuracy as I have nothing to gauge it by. I had to adjust it out of the box, but I think that may be normal depending on temperature and humidity. It was easy to do. And I think that I have a very good quality instrument especially considering the low cost. I trusted the previous reviews and I am not disappointment

Really impressed. I’m an engineer, and I wanted a one inch mic for various home projects. I took it in to the metrology lab at work, and ran it over various standards, from .250 to 1 inch. I had to use the supplied wrench to tweak it .0001 (one ten-thousandth of an inch), and it tracked smoothly and with perfect accuracy across it’s full range of motion. Along with the completely square and true carbide faces and the totally accurate vernier scale on the back, I would have to say it’s the equal of any micrometer I’ve used in 40 years. Again, I’m totally blown away by the quality and price.

I’m totally impressed with this relatively inexpensive micrometer. Completely accurate out of the box which by the way, it does have its own plastic carry case. It comes with a small calibration wrench should the tool ever need adjusting. I bought it to measure various gauges of musical instrument strings. Works perfect for this. Recommended.

Straight from the box, it was off 4/10 of a thou. Once calibrated it was accurate every time. Definitely worth the money! I form parts (and tooling) for John Deere and Caterpillar (and others), and this has not failed me yet.

The micrometer is well made and seems to operate well; although I am a little concerned about how easy the barrel turns. I think there should be slight tension at all times. Perhaps it is there and I don’t feel it because of my age, 75, but on other very expensive micrometers there is constant friction so it always takes at least a small amount of force to turn the barrel. I’ll guarantee the barrel turns freely on my unit.Nonetheless, the unit appears to be accurate. When trying to read the veneer gauge it’s easy to get confused, at least for me. Buying a holder for the gauge was one of the best things I did. Because of some confusion I have to keep referring to the instructions. And that’s my biggest complaint. The instructions are subpar, and parts are badly faded leaving me to guess what it says. Too bad for me.Overall this product is a great value. I usually use dial calipers- the 6 inch kind- but when things get critical I turn to the old stuff that I trust to be the best at measuring. I’ve doubled checked a few of the measurements and the micrometer has been accurate although not down to the veneer level. At least in my opinion.AD2
