A known paper thickness of 9 mm registered 24 mm so had to return it.

This micrometer works nicely, with smooth operation. The frame is painted heavy cast steel, the spindle is smooth steel, and the electronics are in sturdy plastic. The include CR2032 battery fits easily in the back of the tool.Tapping ON/OFF turns the micrometer on or off. Holding the same button for the SET function allows selecting 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, etc, mm as the default reading when the tool is zeroed. The Zero button sets a new reference of (normally) 0.0000 position for the tool.Holding down the in/MM buttons switch you from Imperial to Metric display. Pressing it once switch between an "absolute" measurement since you last zeroed it and 0.0000 that will become a relative measurement from this position. The larger knob is a friction drive that lets you measure with a consistent amount of pressure thus not over-tightening and reading too small of a value.I measured a piece of printer/copy paper at 0.100 mm thickness and a coated, thicker sheet at 0.135 mmGood quality tool!

As someone who does a lot of laser cutting and 3D printing, I'm constantly trying to take precise measurements of objects to get my designs exactly right. I have several pairs of calipers I cycle through using, but this was my first digital micrometer. I inherited some mechanical Starrett micrometers, and this isn't the beautiful precision instrument that is, but it's also immensely easier to use because of the digital readout feature.I haven't calibrated this, but the measurements I've taken so far seem accurate to what I expected them to be. Your mileage may vary, and don't design a spacecraft with this, but I have no reason to suspect gross inaccuracy here. I do notice a very small margin of error when taking repeatable measurements, but nothing concerning (a few hundredths of an inch). My favorite feature of this compared to my other portable calipers is that it uses a standard CR2032 battery. These are much easier to find and last much longer than the AG13 batteries commonly used in calipers, and that's going to be much appreciated the first time I need to replace the battery here.

This review is for the HDLNAK Digital Micrometer. The product includes the micrometer, a CR2032 battery, a small plastic tool for opening the battery compartment, a molded carrying case, and a set of instructions. The only assembly required is the installation of the battery into the device.Operation of the micrometer is easy and intuitive. A short press of the POWER button turns the device on and off. Longer presses may be used to change the default measurement starting value. The ZERO button zeros the measurement at the current spindle position. Both positive and negative values can be indicated on the screen based on the relative positions of the spindle and anvil when the ZERO button is pressed. The IN/MM button allows you to alternate between metric and English measurements as well as select an absolute position.I tested this device on several objects with known measurements and found this micrometer to be accurate within 0.0015 inches of the actual measurement. This tiny deviation is acceptable for my purposes.A few things that could be improved: the frame of the micrometer is made of metal, but both knobs are made of plastic. Metal knobs would give the product a much higher quality feel but would likely raise the price. The plastic case is a welcome addition to keep the micrometer secure when not in use, but the hinges are made of the same molded plastic as the case. It's possible these hinges will wear out with frequent use. Finally, a backlight for the digital display would be nice, but this would also increase the price and reduce battery life.Bottom line: this is a nice micrometer for the DIYer on a budget.

2024-07-28. Digital Micrometer by HDLNAK. 1 inch capacity. Precision up to 0.001. Large LCD display. Black.I'll cut right to the chase, this micrometer by HDLNAK is as good as any out there of this size, and it's priced competitively with those you find at your local hardware store. The main difference between this one and others is that it has a tare button allowing you to reset the calibration of the unit. With that said, it also tells me that there is a margin of error. In my test, I tared the unit, measured something random, then closed it back up to the same point where I had tared the unit originally. The unit was off by 0.003mm (see pics.) The unit operates on one CR2032 button cell battery (included) and the unit of measure can be set from metric to US imperial making it much more versatile. The biggest notable I found with using this micrometer is that the unit is not balanced. You simply can't set it down any way so that it lays flat. Micrometers have very sensitive mechanics inside much like torque wrenches. This is why they come with a protective case. When I tried to lay the unit down for pictures, it always "fell". The angled position of the micrometer can affect it's accuracy over the long run by putting stress and strain on the sensitive mechanics inside the unit. The only place where this micrometer is fully supported properly is in the case. The case is molded to ensure that unit lays flat, which means you should also be storing the unit flat and not upright.Overall, it's a good micrometer and I think it can compete with the branded ones out there. I'm giving it only 4 stars because of the weight balance of the unit. Don't get me wrong, the ones you buy at your local hardware store are balanced the same and they wouldn't get a perfect score from me either...
