Once you get it dialed in to the feed rate your pool needs( usually takes a couple weeks with minor adjustments) I just fill this up with chlorine tablets every 2 weeks and my pool stays clean and clear all summer. I have all day sunlight with no trees nearby also so that helps. This new models lid comes off alot easier than the older ones btw. Get yourself a good pool test kit and with this you'll spend more time enjoying your pool instead of working on it.

Received one and installed it about 4 days ago. Clear directions and contained all parts needed. No issues opening the lid as was mentioned in other reviews. Very good control over the amount of bromine dispensed. Highly recommended.EDIT: So i did have problems with the lid like others have stated. My solution was to spray the cap threads with Dupont Teflon Non-stick dry film lubricant. It the cap can now be installed/removed with ease and no leaks. HTH!

Try prying the small cap off the top. Then take the screw out. Screw off the lid, then you can pry up the other part of the lid. Hope this helps ?

I needed a brominator and not a chlorinator. It turns out the only thing different is the labeling on the device. Unfortunately, Hayward uses a picture of the chlorinator on the picture of the package. The instructions are very confusing. It is not clear which is the inlets that screw into the brominator. It is important to put them in the correct locations. However, the parts are not clearly labeled and the diagram for the instructions is not legible. I called the help line and during the process of speaking to Hayward, the line got disconnected. It is good that it is an exact fit. I could use the old base which saved me time. However, that means that technology is old. For instance, the current way that I figure out when I need more bromide is to see my pond turn green. Why could the product not have an automatic device which notifies me when the bromine is low?

I have used this type of feeder for years just another brand with minimal problems. I had left some water in my old feeder over the winter and it cracked so I thought I would try this feeder. The installation was simple since my old feeder works on the same principle as this one, but almost right away water began to leak out around the gasket and onto my pump room floor. I replaced the gasket in the lid but that didn't work so I just bought what I know and will be deep sixing this feeder.

Save your money. Just came from outside, sweating profusely, can't get the top off. Using a mallard hammer to no avail. Purchased in June of this year. First one purchased was a CL220 and had the same problem. The water line did not come over the inside tube and had a time getting the top off. Tried to offset by filling it up again and again. Gave up and purchased this one, only to face the same identical problem. No more Haywards for me.....
